18 days safari in Uganda and Rwanda

The 18 Days Uganda and Rwanda Tour starts in Uganda and ends in Rwanda. It is therefore advisable to arrive at Entebbe International Airport in Uganda and depart from Kigali Airport in Rwanda. This 14-day trip promises exciting wildlife encounters like primate treks, game viewing safaris, authentic cultural experiences, among others.
Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe Airport
Arrival at Entebbe International Airport and meet your driver-guide who will transfer you to your booked hotel in Entebbe. Dinner and overnight at the Entebbe airport hotel.
Day 2: Entebbe to Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, drive north towards the famous Murchison Falls National Park, with a stop at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to observe the protected rhinos in this sanctuary. Later, after lunch, head to Murchison Falls National Park, the largest well-protected wildlife area in Uganda, spanning 3,840 km2. Climb to the top of the falls to admire their natural beauty. This is where one of the wonders of the Nile is located. You will see the Nile thread its way through a narrow 7 meter gorge with a width of more than a kilometer and fall below with a roar of thunder, forming a spray of water flanked by a breathtaking rainbow. Check-in at Pakuba Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Murchison Safari, Nile Cruise
On this day, you will have a tasty breakfast and go for a safari. The guide will take you to the best places to observe animals. You will definitely enjoy the wild nature of Uganda by taking the best photos that will be unforgettable during this safari. You will have the pleasure of seeing lions, lionesses and their cubs as well as other wildlife such as elephants, giraffes, buffalo and antelopes grazing in the savannah. Return to your lodge for a delicious lunch and an afternoon of rest. In the evening, return to the jungle for a safari to increase the sightings of wild animals.

Day 4: Murchison Falls to Kibale National Park
Early breakfast at the lodge and drive to Kibale forest. The magnificent landscape of this countryside will make the journey more exciting and enjoyable. Have lunch en route in the town of Fort Portal and continue your journey admiring the Rwenzori range. Installation at your lodge. You can take a guided walk through the Bigodi wetland, which is home to many species of birds and primates. Dinner and overnight at Turaco Tree Tops Lodge.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Trekking Day
Early morning, after breakfast at Kibale Forest Camp, drive to the park offices in Kanyanchu for chimpanzee trekking preparation and briefing. Return to Turaco Tree Tops Lodge for lunch and afternoon rest.

Day 6: Visit Kibale Crater Lakes, Queen Elizabeth Park
In Uganda, the Kibale region is one of the most charming places, known for its different primates and numerous crater lakes. In the morning, you will leave the lodge and have breakfast before heading out to visit the many crater lakes scattered throughout the region. Lunch at Ndali Lodge, then drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will arrive in the evening. Delicious dinner and night rest at Kasenyi Safari Camp.

Day 7: Safari, excursion in Kazinga channel
Enjoy your breakfast and go on a safari through Kasenyi track and other tracks where you will have the chance to observe different species of wildlife like lions, elephants, antelopes, buffaloes, waterbucks, giraffes and, if you’re lucky, leopards, as well as amazing and beautiful bird species. Queen Elizabeth Park features a diversity of Ugandan ecosystems such as savannah, wetlands, lakes, forests and over 600 species of birds that live in the park.
The landscape is therefore spectacular with crater lakes like Nyamunuka and various shrubs and forests. Later, return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, you will take a cruise on the Kazinga Canal, one of the most memorable experiences in the park. It’s one of the park’s most memorable experiences. You will have the pleasure of observing different water birds and their sweet sounds, as well as animals such as hippos, African crocodiles, waterbucks, buffaloes and many more. After experiencing the real wilderness, return to the lodge for a night’s rest and dinner.
Day 8: Chimpanzee trekking in the Kaymbura gorges and transfer to Lake Mburo Park
Early breakfast at Bush Lodge and departure. With your driver/guide, you go to the Kyambura gorges to follow the chimpanzees. Man’s closest “cousins” (chimpanzees) live and roam in the thick forest on the banks of the gorge. Tracking chimpanzees involves going down and up the banks of the gorges. Besides chimpanzees, Kyambura Gorge is a favorite spot for flamingos, lesser flamingos and great egrets. Return to the staging area where you will join your driver and depart for Lake Mburo National Park. Check into Rwakobo Rock Hotel and prepare for a night safari in the park, in search of the elusive leopards and other nocturnal species.
Day 9: Walk and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Park
A morning walk in the park is planned after breakfast at the lodge. In addition to the landscapes and floral scents, you will be able to see many animals such as zebras, impalas, warthogs and antelopes grazing in the savannah. You will then leave for Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a lunch break in the town of Kabale. Check-in at Rushaga Gorilla Camp upon arrival.
Day 10: Gorilla tracking, community walk in Bwindi
After a cup of tea, you go to the park headquarters with your guide, for a briefing on the do’s and don’ts of being in the park with the gorillas . Then, departure for a trek with the gorillas through the misty tropical forest. The trek can last 2 hours or up to 6 hours, which entirely depends on the location or even the movements of these gentle giants. Hikers are only allowed one hour of walking with the gorillas. Be sure to bring a packed lunch, enough water, sturdy shoes, cameras without flash, raincoats, walking poles for those who are not in good shape. Then return to your lodge and relax. In the evening, you will take a walk through the community where you will visit the Batwa, an indigenous group who have lived in the forest for many years, and watch their traditional dances. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 11: Transfer to Kisoro, Lake Mutanda
Departure from Rushaga towards Kisoro for a relaxing day and a boat trip on the magnificent Lake Mutanda. The Mutanda region is a place you can visit and never forget and even if you stay longer, you will probably never tire of the views. The lake overlooks the Virunga mountain ranges and their spectacular appearance is undeniable. Upon arrival, you will check in at Mutanda Lake Resort.

Day 12: Transfer to the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda
Breakfast and departure from Mutanda Lake Resort for a transfer to the Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda. Arrival at Bambou Gorilla Lodge, lunch and departure to visit the cultural village of Iby’acwu. This place is an exhibition and representation of the cultural heritage of Rwanda.

Day 13: Golden monkey tracking, Lake Kivu
Up very early for breakfast and departure to Kinigi park headquarters to register and be informed about the golden monkey trekking activity. Ascent to the starting point of the hike in the company of your guides. After finding the monkeys, return to the starting point where you will meet your driver to continue to the Lake Kivu region to rest for the afternoon and evening.
Day 14: Nyungwe National Park, Canopy Walk
Depart from the lodge after breakfast and drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park, checking into Emerhaude Kivu Lodge for some refreshments and an early lunch. After lunch, you will head to park headquarters for a briefing before your canopy walk. Return to the lodge in the evening.
Day 15: From Nyungwe to Akagera National Park
The journey is quite long and we will have a lunch break in the city of Kigali from where we will leave in the afternoon to reach our destination of the day – the Akagera National Park. the Akagera. We will settle in at Akagera Game Lodge to freshen up after a long drive and have dinner later.
Day 16: 4×4 safari, boat trip on Lake Ihema
Early breakfast at Akagera Game Lodge before heading into the jungle to spot animals and admire the breathtaking landscapes of the park. After three hours of safari, return to the lodge for lunch, then you will take a boat cruise on Lake Ihema in the afternoon for more animal sightings. Return to the lodge to observe the animals.
Day 17: Return to Kigali
After breakfast, you go leisurely to Kigali. Departure from Akagera National Park for a safari by car. Visit the local markets of Kigali city to buy souvenirs, settle into a restaurant in the city for a delicious lunch and continue to Heavens Boutique Hotel Kigali. Check-in, refreshment and rest before dinner and night’s rest.
Day 18: Visit to the city of Kigali
After breakfast at the hotel, visit to the city of Kigali and the genocide memorial. Lunch in town and transfer to the airport for check-in for the return flight. End of the safari.
